Here we are again, it's almost time for the coveted Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Last year was my first year covering the sale and I feel like I came into the game late and really didn't start sharing information early enough. So we are less than two weeks from the start of the sale and I want to make sure you are ready! I will be answering a lot of questions here and will also be sharing some of my favorite picks early next week! If you need a resource to navigate this sale, start here!
When does the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale start?
There are several different dates for the start of the sale and that will depend on whether or not you have a Nordstrom Card and what you status is:
Icon Members:
July 9th, 2019, in store only
Icon and Ambassador Members:
July 10-11, 2019, on store only
Early Access for Nordstrom Card Holders
July 12, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. in store and online, through July 18, 2019
Public Access
July 19, 2019 - August 4, 2019 (All sale prices will go up to regular price on August 5th)
How do I get Early Access?
To get into the early access you have to be a Nordstrom Card Holder. If you are shopping online the card has to be linked to your account for you to gain access. If you apply for a Nordstrom Card by July 9th, you will receive a bonus Nordstrom Note for $60! You can apply for the card here!
Do I have to use the card to make my purchase?
No, you don't. You only have to have the card linked to your Nordstrom account, so it shows you are a card holder. To make your purchases you can use any form of payment! If you want to earn Nordstrom points, then I would suggest to use the card.
Is Early Access different than Public Access?
The simple answer here is not really. The biggest difference between the two sales is the availability of the items. Everything will be available during early access, but if it sells out before public access, it may not be available. Nordstrom does not restock the items once they are gone.
If you are looking for specific items, especially the denim, basics, boots, then early access is what you need to shop. I'm not saying these items won't be available when the public sale goes live, but there may be sizes or colors that are sold out. As I stated above, you don't have to use the card to make the purchases, you just need the card to gain access to the early sale!
Is there someplace we can see the items before we make a decision about shopping this sale or applying for the card?
Nordstrom does keep a lot of the sale items a secret until the sale begins, but they do release a sneak peak in the Nordstrom Catalog. They typically send this out to card members a few weeks before the sale, but you can view it online and see some of the items before!
Will any of the same items be available from last years sale?
Some of the brands, like BP and Halogen, will bring the same items back to the sale each year! Especially their basics! have been able to get the same BP cardigans and tees over the past two years, but the colors will change just a little.
Tips and Tricks for Shopping the Sale:
Shop Early and Shop Fast! Some of the sale items will sell out quickly, so if it is a high ticketed item, put it in your card and immediately check out. Just because you have something in your cart doesn't mean it is being held. Someone can come in behind you and grab it!
If you aren't sure about a size, see if your store has it in stock and opt for in store pickup. I did this with a few items last year, but do know that a lot of people will do this, so there is no guarantee that your color or size will be available when it's time to pull the items in your order.
You can also ship an order to your home, so if you don't feel like going into a store, or don't have a store near you, there is always this option and you can return in store or through the mail for free!
