Hello Fresh Review - Meal Two

On Valentine's Day I decided I would try our second meal from Hello Fresh. With having two meals left, I asked Mom which one we should have and she said the Crispy Cheddar Frico Cheeseburgers. When choosing the meals through Hello Fresh, I knew this was one recipe we were going to have to try because we both love burgers. I was very excited to try this recipe, because it looked delicious, but this is one recipe I kinda failed at.

Per the prior post, everything you needed to complete the meal was in the bag and they also sent the ground beef for us to use for the hamburgers. I found the first few steps to be very easy, but I quickly found myself scattering between the island, the stove and the oven. It was almost like I was frantic trying to do too many things at once. I started out by slicing the onions and tomatoes and getting the beef into two patties. Then I put the broccoli on the pan and seasoned it with salt and pepper. Like I said before, these two parts were easy, but I quickly found myself scattering around. The next step was to make the onion jam, which I won't lie, I was a little scared of, but it turned out to be delicious. The next part was to make the cheddar frico, which seemed really easy, but this is when my failure came and I will discuss that later. Now that the onion jam was completed and the broccoli was roasted, I put the cheddar frico into the oven and started to cook the burgers. While the burgers were cooking and the cheddar was melting, I sliced the buns and got them ready to go into the oven.

I took the cheddar frico out of the oven when all of the cheese was melted and this is where my failure started. The recipe called to use parchment paper to bake the cheddar cheese, but I didn't have any. So instead of just cooking it directly on the pan, I decided to use aluminum foil....not my finest moment. When I took the cheddar frico out of the over it looked exactly how it did in the instructions, but with one HUGE issue...it was STUCK to the foil. I tried for 5 minutes to get the cheddar off of the foil, but all it did was rip and tear. It was definitely not the one. round circle of cheese it was supposed to be, so I did the next best thing, I threw it away and added a velveeta single to each bun! I know...classy!

When the patties were done cooking I assembled each burger the way the instructions told me to, except I didn't use the ketchup. The end result, was a delicious burger with a taste like no other. The onion jam, which is not really like jam, was delicious and just sent my tastebuds over the edge. I would definitely try this recipe again, but would probably bake the cheddar frico on parchment paper or on the pan directly! If you are a subscriber of Hello Fresh, this is definitely a must try recipe!
